I have chosen the following two topics: psycho-social development and introversion and the gifted.
Psycho-social development

Erik Erikson was a critical developer of psychosocial development. He established that this phenomenon occurs through eight stages of an individual's life:
1. Trust vs. Mistrust
2. Autonomy vs. Shame
3. initiative vs. Guilt
4. Industry vs. Inferiority
5. Identity vs. Role Confusion
6. Intimacy vs. Isolation
7. Generativity vs. Stagnation
8. Ego Integrity vs. Despair
Successful completion of each stage is important in order to create a relatively adept personality and successfully father essential codes of conduct. A stage can be completed later in life, however there will still be consequences for failures to complete at the appropriate time.
The needs of the individual clash with the needs of society.
Erikson has helped create an expectation that adulthood can help people acquire personal growth.
Introversion and the Gifted

First, introversion and extroversion are how people gather energy and how they are drained of energy. Introverts gather energy from alone time and are drained by spending time with people or by large gatherings. Extroverts are vice versa.
Introversion, especially with gifted children, can be confused with perfectionism or depression. It is important that a guided adult tell the difference from the three (or diagnose two or all three). A gifted student may not be introverted and vice versa. It's important to individualize the student's experience.
School can be a negative experience for introverts and the gifted. This can hit two-fold when the student is both. Differentiation more than likely will be needed for introverts alone because of how extroversion is made to thrive in a school setting and curriculum. It is important to not force the introverts into becoming extroverts, as they will probably withdraw even further.
Some activities that can help introverted students would be creative activities, solitary exercise, outdoor activities, activities allowing for decompression, and meditation/visualization.
